################################################################################ START OF FILE: 2025-11-06 - Sometimes You Are The Problem - .txt ################################################################################ SERMON DETAILS ======================================== Date: 2025-11-06 Title: Sometimes You Are The Problem Speaker: Church: What Do You Mean By Type: Short Clip Duration: 25m Language: English URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1S36-To3X4 ======================================== TRANSCRIPT ======================================== So, I'm I'm considering doing an episode doing an episode on titled Sometimes You Are the Problem and making sure to add all of the necessary caveats to it because what we don't want to have happen is to preach in a way where you consider and think, "If I don't behave in such a way, I'll miss the rapture." because there's nothing that can save you. Nothing at all. And we don't want to get into a mentality where we're thinking, okay, as long as I do such and such, I'll make a rapture. But if I'm, you know, in the message and I'm the bride of God and and I I know I've been sealed with the Holy Ghost, I've had an experience of being born again, but I still make this mistake or I still make that mistake and like I feel condemned and I I just don't know if I'll make it, then we're listening to the devil in that one. But if we But the other side, and and I've heard it said, it's always the devil who tells you you're not good enough. And that's true as far as that wording goes, but it's not always the devil that tells you where you are is not where you actually should be. And what do I mean by that? What I mean is that there's a thing of the maturing of a relationship with Jesus Christ. And the way that that happens is when we crucify our flesh. Is when we look in the mirror and tell that guy, "You, David Cushain, are in the way of my relationship with God. And in order for me to have a better relationship with God, what I need to do is to die out to my own desires. I don't like Steven Ferdick or Joel Ostein. I don't like their preaching. I like them as people, but like they've tried to help people with with what they know, but their preaching is awful. Because preaching, if we're already perfect, we don't need preaching. Why do we even need preaching in the first place? Why? Like I'll give it to Charlie Kirk. He said it perfect. He said, "We do not go to church to be told how awesome we are. We go there to find out what can I do better? Where am I lacking?" Oh, once you're the bride, you're not lacking anywhere. Of course you are. No. And and here's the thing, though. It's not because you'll miss the rapture if you get it wrong. It's because if you really realized who you are a and you know the value of that, you would do everything in your life that you could consistently to pull closer to God. Sons of God and daughters of God are led by the spirit of God. And if you never look in the mirror and say, "Hey, you you should be ashamed of yourself for what you did. You knew it was wrong and you did it anyway. If you never do that, you ain't got the Holy Ghost. No way. And I'm not talking about condemnation. I'm talking about conviction. Condemnation tells you there's no way out. Conviction says, "Hey, could you stop shooting yourself in the foot and calling it holy?" conviction says, "Hey, David, I want a closer relationship with you, but I can't have that when you're spending 4 hours a day scrolling through social media." And yes, social media is designed just is designed to addict you. Yes. So, it's slightly not your fault. But brother Brandham did not preach that the biggest enemy we have is Satan. He did not. He preached the biggest enemy we have is ourselves. Ourselves. I'm the biggest enemy I've got. Not Satan, not the world, me. Because my carnal nature hates God. and it always will. Why? Because ain't it ain't going to no rapture. So there's literally part of my very consciousness that won't be in glory. And so when I change something in my life, it's not because, oh, if I don't do this, I might miss the rapture. It's because I don't want to because I'm already in heavenly places. And if I was in heaven and something was in the way between me and Jesus, I'm going to do whatever it takes to get that out of the way. And the the thing between in the one of the mysteries of this age is what do I do? I mean, what does God do? Oh, God just does everything. He does it all for me. No, he doesn't. He That's beautiful. He did that for you with sin, but not with your stupidity. Not with your iniquity, not with your shame. We still feel those things because they're necessary. What is shame? What is iniquity? It's not, "You're doing wrong. You must stop." It's actually Jesus calling out to us, saying, "Hey, I want a relationship with you, and I can't have that when you got gossip or pride or lust or or addiction in the way, and I want you, and I want more of you." But as long as you blame Satan, you're actually blaming me because I'm the one giving you the conviction in the first place. Conviction isn't that's wrong. It's, hey, I want you closer to me. I love you and I want a relationship with you. That's conviction. Condemnation is you're hopeless. But Satan isn't only the one that Satan doesn't only ever come to you and tell you that. He also comes and tells you you're in the message. You stand and clap when you're supposed to. You rejoice when you spoke to. You dance. You shout. You speak with tongues. You listen to sermons. You read your Bible. You pray. You cry on the altar when you're supposed to. And sometimes you feel bad, but inwardly you're worthless. But he doesn't tell you that part. He tells you because you're in the message, because you go to church, because your parents go to church, because you stand and clap when you're supposed to, because you're rejoicing, because you're feeling emotion, because you still want people to like you, because you have a desire for God, then you're all good. My God, I hope we don't misinterpret the the the quote of Brother Brandham where brother Brandham says, "If you have any desire to serve God, you're great." Don't mistake guilt from your stupidity or your chosen iniquity for a desire from God. For God. A desire for God looks like, "I don't want that anymore." Not, "I don't want to feel bad anymore," but actually, "I don't want that trash anymore in my life and I want it out and I'll do whatever it takes to get it out." Not, "Oh, I feel bad." Oh, it's just the devil making you feel bad. No, it's God. Conviction is I feel bad because something is between me and my savior. That's conviction, not this, oh well, if you ever say negative about yourself, that's the devil speaking. No, it's not. Jesus said, get thee behind me, Satan, for you're an offense to me. Why? Because Satan was between between Peter and Jesus and their relationship. And Peter was the one keeping him there through his own choices. In Christ, Satan is a defeated enemy. But in your flesh and in your own decisions, he's not. You are a powerful force as the bride of Christ. When you have the name of Jesus Christ, it's a powerful force. But Satan doesn't just come in in in in in the oh, you're worthless. He also comes as your message, your bride. You're perfect. You're incredible. You're wonderful. Satan couldn't stop you even if he tried. All you need to do is rejoice and claim what's already yours. Any voice that ever makes you feel like you're not enough is of the devil. And then literally, what does that help with condemnation? Yes. But what does it do also? It actually demonizes godly conviction and makes you feel that any voice that doesn't tell you you're perfect is satanic. That's what it does. It does not help. And I know that this is tough and hard, but it's true. I want to be closer to God. And the thing and the way the thing keeping me from getting closer to God is not Satan, it's me. And once I realize that, it's great. But I can be set free from the being bound by Satan because the only thing Satan can use against me is my own will. But and the the the what's the balance between those things? Satan can have me bound. Yes. Because I accepted it. Because I rationalized it. Because every time anyone ever corrected me, I said, "I'm the bride. Stop correcting me." Any voice that doesn't tell unconditionally affirm me and tell me I'm perfect is satanic. That's the balance there. But once I realize, oh man, I I got this gossip problem. I can't stop saying negative about others or myself. Oh, I I got this pride problem. I actually think that because I attend all the popular meetings and I stand and clap when I'm supposed to and I do all this even though I still gossip and even it's not even the gossip that's the problem guys. It's not the lust. It's not the pride. It's that you still keep on opening the door and choosing it when you have the resources and the access to remove it from your life. And if you want Jesus and still want the things of the world, you are the love of God is not even in you. That's the secret to it. I know it's popular. I know I I know that it's easy to to only seek for and and listen to a gospel that makes you feel nice, but I don't want to feel nice. I want my flesh to feel crucified every day by Jesus Christ. How do I know that? Because when Paul described our daily life, he described it as crucifixion. And this isn't bad news. This is I'm saying all of this because have you ever seen those uh those machines on the road? You they press the button. Why? Because they're breaking up the road. And that's what I'm doing. What I'm breaking up is your self-will and mine to think that we're never the problem. You know why Steven Ferdick and Joel Ostein and Joyce Myers are so popular? because they never ever ever ever ever ever preach that the reason why you're suffering might be you and your desires might need to change. That's why they're so liked. That's why. But I'm thankful and I'm happy to hear that, hey, I'm the problem because then I'm the solution. Yes, Satan set up this world to where we would serve him and give him worship and adoration. Yes, that is true. And Jesus also gave us the victory on Calvary where we can claim victory over these things. And also, let me tell you this, the victory over gambling is not always I prayed and I went to an altar and everything's great, perfect, amazing. It can be that way, but I'd say for most of the things that I've seen, a lot of the solutions are more practical because let me tell you something. It might blow your mind. I might make people upset at me, but I sure hope so because I I care about truth. I don't say things to make people upset. I say things to make Satan upset. Practical solutions are also of God. Practical solutions are also of God. God wants a relationship with you and I. And if our self-will that keeps on choosing gossip and keeps on choosing pride and keeps on choosing message youth group hierarchy gracism where you have grace for your own youth group but you don't care about any others because if they do something wrong they're terrible. But if you do something wrong it's because you're victim. Hold on. Let me say that slower for you so you can hear it easier. racism and message youth groups is if one of the people in my youth group does wrong, it's because they're a victim. It's because it's not their fault. But if you do wrong, I'm going to shun you, block you, abandon you because you are wrong. Why is that? Because when you never preach repentance of the will of your own iniquity and shame, you need repentance in order to exist. So where do you find it? Other people. We don't need to look out for the antichrist spirit from the Baptist church. We need to look out for it from people. The antichrist spirit will not come quoting Joel Olstein. It will not come quoting the pope. It will come quoting William Brandon. It's a cliff farmer quote for you. It's really good. That's the truth. And so we change things in our lives. We draw closer to God because we want to. And yes, this world is designed for consumerism to get you addicted, to get you away from God. But once you realize that, once you realize, oh, the problem is me, it's your fault if you don't change it. Now, no, this is not going to get to a point where like, oh, well, I I didn't face it. Like, no. If you don't want to fight your flesh with everything within you, you ain't got no Holy Ghost or you're either you don't have it or you're majorly backslitting and you need a refilling. It's one or the other. Oh, but I'm the son of God. I'm br I'm the bride of Jesus Christ. If you're the bride of Jesus Christ, you're not just meant to be his wife. You're meant to be his general, his top soldier. Brother Brandham said the bride of Christ would be an invincible army. This is not bad news. This is not negativity. Oh, stop with the negativity. Brother Brandham said you can have the Holy Ghost every day in your life and still go to hell. Why? Because there's there's a difference between like brother Alistair Francis says between the anointing and the person. The rain falls on the just and on the unjust. The same Holy Spirit that anoints me is the same one that anointed Charlie Kirk, Billy Graham, Oral Roberts, even Joel Ostein. So, it's up to you. If you are addicted to something or if you're dealing with something and you aren't taking the steps to heal, it's your fault. Now, if you don't realize it and you actually think it's okay, maybe Satan does have you bound and you need to go get set free at a camp or not even at a camp. You know where you can get set free to your own bedroom or your own church. Not with this nonsense of deliverance only happens at camps. No, it doesn't. It can happen anywhere. your own home church, anywhere, everywhere. Nonsense. Nonsense. Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and forever. What am I doing? I'm breaking up the ground. I'm telling you that, hey, there's a better way to live. And conviction is not condemnation. Any voice that tells you you can do better is not satanic. Because in order for Jesus to have a closer relationship with you, he must pull you out of what's wrong. Anybody that's ever had any relationship knows that the real way you have a you know that you have a real relationship is once you get past the oh I love you. Oh, I love you too. Oh, it's great. It's amazing. Then one of you really does something dumb and you must forgive them or deal with hardship. When you did something and you knew it was wrong and you did it anyway and then you both have you both have to deal with the aftermath of the other person's stupidity or iniquity. Brother Brandham said, "If it's not clothesline preaching, it's not preaching." Why? Because I need to call you higher as a preacher. That's my job. That's my That's my vocation. That's my commission by God. Call them higher. I want a relationship with my bride and I can't have that when their gossip and their youth group message pride is in the way. Some of the worst treatment I've ever got at this podcast is by people claiming to be message people. And some of the greatest treatment I've ever got also is from people that don't even know about the message. The baptism of the Holy Ghost and being born again is the only way into the rapture. I don't care how many sermons you listen to. I don't care how excited you get when the preacher says you're the bride. It's meaningless without being born again. If you don't desire Jesus Christ above everything else and you desire to get all the worldly things out of the way and just want Jesus Christ, what's wrong with you? What's wrong with you is you're not born again or you are born again but you're majorly backsliden. Sometimes you are the problem. And that's a good thing because when I know that I'm in Christ and I've been born again, I've been justified, sanctified, filled with the baptism of the Holy Ghost, and I know that I'm I'm in the process of the adoption into the incarnate word of God that'll be capstone and completed in the work in the rapture. I know that I am saved and and I'm sealed and I can't possibly put myself out of the rapture, but something in me still wants Jesus Christ. I don't want to live for the world thinking, "Oh, I'm sealed. I can do whatever I want." No, I want more of Jesus every single day. And the only possible thing that could be standing between me and Jesus Christ is myself. Myself. That's the only thing. Oh, Satan standing between the way. What does Satan use? What's the only thing Satan can use? Your self-will. He can provide the the lust, the gossip, the pride, all of these different things in your life and and available to you, the McDonald's, the exon, the websites, the everything online, everything in this world. But it's only you that can make that choice. And yes, you can be deceived. Yes, you can be uh convinced out of it, whatever else. But if you don't have the desire in you to blame your own will for your own choices to get better, either you don't have the Holy Ghost or you've been preached the wrong thing. Incomplete. It's incomplete. It's a good news thing to know that I am the problem because guess what? Then I am the solution through Christ. It's not I can do all things because God does it all for me. I just go to a youth camp or I go to a church meeting or I get a Holy Ghost experience and literally anything in my life. It's great. What about when the problem is that you want to gossip because it makes you feel powerful? The problem isn't the gossip. The problem is that gossip is the is the anti-thesis to encouragement. You ever consider that gossip is the anti-thesis means the the the opposite of encouragement because it makes you feel powerful. Things of Satan make you feel powerful. Things of God make someone else feel loved, valued, and powerful. Oh, just preach the message, David. I am preaching the message. Listen to literally any sermon of brother Brandham ever made a man running from the presence of the Lord. It's funny to me when certain quote, you know, you know, a lying by omission. It's when you leave stuff out. It's funny to me that certain websites literally never show a quote where brother Brandham is uplifting preachers. Should they show all the other ones or If I preach to you that you can be normal lost than God himself could be lost, but I also don't preach that you can have the Holy Ghost every day in your life and still go to hell, I'm doing you a disservice. Sometimes you're the problem. What am I telling you? Get into Christ. He wants a relationship with you. He wants more of you every single day. And the thing standing between you and him is yourself. Satan can only use a willing vessel. And yes, as all the world all around us is really tough, but like when you're in Christ, Satan can't stop you. When you're outside of Christ, of course, he can stop you. Get into Christ. Blame the real person responsible for your problems, yourself, as much as you can. Like, yeah, it's your fault if you do something dumb, but like also Satan provided the way. But you you did choose it because along with every temptation, there's a way out of it. So, it's up to you. It's up to me, but right now in my life, I know I'm born again. And I know that I've been justified, sanctifi, sanctified, and filled with the baptism of the Holy Ghost. And it's an ongoing work. I'm continually getting more and more sanctified and justified. And I know this. I'm backsliding sometimes, and then I get refillings of the Holy Ghost, getting closer to God. things are right on schedule, the way they're supposed to be. I and and that's an encouragement to know, hey, I can't put myself out of a rapture, but I can feel bad for my own choices because they're my fault. Jesus didn't remove my ability to feel bad for my own stupidity. He amplified it because the sinner doesn't care. But the son of God, the daughter of God does care. This isn't bad news. This is great news. Because as long as you blame the devil for stuff that you are doing, you can't grow. But the second you actually blame the responsible party, like, yeah, Satan provided it, but you chose it and you repent, you have happiness waiting for you. It's a great thing. I am thrilled beyond belief. You guys don't know the joy that I've experienced by saying I was wrong so many times on my podcast. I love it. It's great. It makes that all devil so mad. It's amazing. I don't view any other way to live my life. I'm thankful for every bit of stupid that I've done because it's showed me, oh, I was wrong. I need more of Jesus. So, I love you all and I didn't do a podcast last week, but I guess this will work for one. I will post this on YouTube and Facebook and Instagram once I get chances to post it all. I love you. I hope that this and you know this is meant to be conversational. You can you can come to me privately, but this is just what I felt led to say while I'm driving. I didn't have any notes or anything prepared. I just went as I felt led. I love you and Jesus loves you and he wants a relationship with you, but he can't have a relationship with you when you with you in the way. Satan's very cunning. He's very sly. He wants he actually likes it when we blame him. Why? Because blaming him gives him attention which is to him worship. PL the the the Bible never instructed anyone to destroy the devil. It instructed him to destroy the works of the devil. And the way to do that was to what actually to destroy was our self-will. It was to crucify our flesh. And you will never have a prayer meeting so powerful or a Holy Ghost meeting so powerful that you kill your carnal nature unless their rapture happens that day. Because brother Brandham said, you're going to have that sticky nature as long as you are alive. for the rapture. And I I think JFK said, "Do not pray for easier lives, my friends. Pray to be stronger men. Do not pray for God to take away the the your ability to be stupid. Pray for God to help you become stronger against your own will." Brother Bren said, "The first enemy you got to overcome is yourself." And if I don't preach the part of the message where brother Brandham says your biggest enemy is yourself, I'm failing you as a preacher. The first thing you got to overcome is you.
