or come in real close and punch and I stopped doing Taekwondo because in order to excel you got to learn more control and I don't want to uh accidentally hurt someone and because I did it so I could spend more time with my mom and I'm gonna take her out on dates once a week and I think once I get back on my feet more I figured if I had a good pistol not in this yeah you and Josh say the same thing like we'll be in the middle of a discussion like Mike Tyson versus Bruce Lee in the street fight and they're just like hey anybody with the pistol you're like yeah that that makes complete sense right as far as girls playing hard to get I think it's a good thing it makes it hard on a guy because we don't know what we're supposed to do and we just have no clue how we're supposed to deal and as you know we can like we don't know if we're supposed to act like we're interested or not interested or if a girl says that maybe they're saying no or pretend like they don't like us because they want us to chase them or maybe it's because they do want us to chase them maybe it's because we're too fat which is skinny we're too tall we're too short it's because they just want to get attention from depends on what the parents say I mean my daughters in this day and age it depends what they mean by dating it depends how close we are a lot of Youth but definitely people are saying you know 40 40 is definitely the appropriate dating age you know uh depends I see dating I don't know what that means because of the message it's totally different like in the message it's just like hey I want to call this person my girlfriend talk to them almost every night and see them once every little bit because you gotta travel to see a girl if you are from where I am because we're away from everybody else which is fine it's cool uh and you talk to them and you see people I think dating age depends on the influence maturity as well yeah it's it's the maturity like I have a have a 20 year old my little brother my my my little brother Thomas is 20. and he's more mature than 30 year olds that I know there are 30 there's there's a 40 year old guy that I know who shouldn't be dating anybody because he's not right with God so it depends on maturity of course so go according to what your parents say you know it's it's just it just depends honestly like you could be from Arkansas and think yeah get married at 15 dating and 14. you know that that's just the way they do it and you know that's just the way they do it so as far as you know previous tattoos previously who cares uh what would a marriage mean to you a boy I'm not married so I mean I'm I'm guessing if I ever have that or I want to if a married couple wants to join this live at some point or a live in the future text me it'd Thomas and I go to my dad's church people ask me outside North Carolina you would say the thing though that's that's such a boring answer you're not going to start a conversation a conversational thread is when you give someone something to go off of that they can continue the conversation like when you ask me that and if I answer that way then you know you can ask me about the pizza place you can ask me about my church my family Knoxville Chattanooga my job or all these different things that I gave you you could ask me about I think it's all right so to me it's like yeah sure you say you're saying and what church are you going to say yeah I think if you ask someone a question like if I ask a girl about how she's doing and she mentions that she's feeling bad because she's stressed from work she wants you to ask her about her work so that she can vented to you so it's a uh always sometimes not always but my point is is you should pick up conversational threats that they're pic did he use any like pickup lines or anything or no he had a very kind heart and that was that was that was it it wasn't really anything else he was just a good person so that's good it helps to be a um a nice person and he has very good personality and I mean that's pretty much it easy pushing your uh your dad your dad's about the Daryl Ward I'm sure that was little uh daunting Mark how did that what was that like I waited so he so which at what point asking to to kind of data or quarter or asking to marry her which one all three well the same thing so yeah um that's what I think too dating accordion um I'm a southerner now that's what I believe No I um I mean I was I was really respectful of course but I just told him I mean I was a little bit older at the time so I was in my 20s so I just almost like Hey I'm I'm just I just want to get to know more you know and what are your thoughts and he went on a world tour and asked every person that I had ever met all the way across the country what they thought of me and I guess I guess nobody said anything bad so it worked out but ask him to uh to marry her I waited till he was on his deathbed and super sick and I just parachuted in on him real quick no he knew it was coming and I mean I I made the decision to move down here so I could spend um more time with her and and get to know the family and get to know her in the church and stuff a little bit more I I was blessed to have the opportunity to do that and uh that helped a lot um and so he got to know me and and and he you know he knew it was coming so it was easy so so you're saying that you were sincering everything else and sorry I forgot your wife's name what was your name sister Allison you're saying that that Mark was just really nice and a really good heart and that's what attracted you to him yeah not his ability to flirt you up but because he was a very nice person yeah I mean um you know he's I think I think he's good looking which helps too but um like most Andersons don't cry not in front of all these people I think um like to me I was what what I was looking for in a man was somebody that was very a Godly Christian man and he was that and um I couldn't figure that you have a very nice you know kind heart and um and then he has really good like personality traits and everything too and so yeah that was that was what I was looking for and yeah we just kind of found each other and and it just kind of happened so yeah my advice again my advice was if you're I mean be respectful and and just go for it like if you're I mean if you're just like piling around and you're interested in someone like what are you waiting on I mean like like I mean if you're afraid of getting rejected like get over it life solar rejection and I had to learn that lesson too a couple times and it's you know it was good for me but yeah just just go for it all right well another question is how do you how did you know she was the one like what made you like okay yeah confirmation yeah good question um you can't imagine life without that person yeah no that that's that's really what it is we've talked about this some too like it well and you know everyone hates it when people say like you know you just know you just know what does that mean what do you mean by you just know yeah deep down in you is just like you know what like yeah it's it well I mean you know I I prayed about it a lot I mean we both did weird we didn't enter into a courtship or dating lately I mean we're just we're not that type of people but yeah I mean like one day I I drove back and forth between Ohio and Tennessee a lot like every other weekend for like a year or two and you know at that point you're like man and uh I remember Andrew he's on here he just just saying the gas money dude think of the gas one um anyway but uh no I mean yeah one day I was just driving I was like I I cannot imagine spending the rest of my life with any other person and that was it and that's how I knew but I mean you know when you first start when you're first together you think that but you know I we had been together for a you know a year and a half at that time almost two years so that's that's different I mean if you've been together a long time and you still feel that way that's that's one thing so you're saying you're only young ones go for it be the person that God wants you to be and just go after it if you really want to be with them and then if you rejected great you know that's that's gonna happen and then go out you know try to find somebody else then just uh be sincere and if they if they're the one that it'll just you know it'll uh it'll it'll grow and then um if you can't imagine life without them Miriam we got you a quick question um do you ask your pastor before uh dating Allison did I ask what the pastor before Jay announcing no I didn't oh um I have a follow-up question follow-up question David is that um unscriptural per se or what is is that is that a bad move no his Pastor is directly involved like is his Pastor is preaching like I'm sure that when you were dating her and all these different all through it your pastor is preaching things that helped tremendously and didn't even know it yeah I mean yeah my past my pastor at the time was I mean he's one of the greatest men I've ever known I mean I'm the person I am today because of the the years and years that I spent there being molded under his ministry but you know I was in a a different situation where like the Lord I didn't know it at the time but the Lord was calling me to to be somewhere else and to serve in a different body and so there was I was you know there were some weird things going on with me inside and I wasn't really sure what was going on and why I was being pulled and all that stuff but no I mean I didn't I didn't ask him I did he never taught us that we needed to you know I mean yeah that wasn't a thing that I was actually felt well it's a you know and in the church that I'm at now like certainly like you know brother Donnie is a great man and he's a great pastor and he has I mean there's hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of us right he doesn't want us all calling him every time we think a girl's cute you know have you ever read the courtship dating and marriage book by uh brother Dirksen many times yeah a lot okay that's all our advice my advice is oh you got something else to say so in fact number one thing she's full of them so yeah so to me like if your relationship is built on a friendship it's gonna lie because like we were we were really good friends first and then we developed feelings for each other and I just feel like if you have that Foundation of a friendship first um because you know they always say like if you marry your best friend I mean like I mean you can't get no better than that so I think like if there's a way to like to get to know each other and be good friends with each other and then you've developed feelings for each other and um I think that's that's really like that's just the best way you can go in my opinion to marry your best friend here's what would be your advice like for instance I'm guessing you guys go were you guys like a long distance relationship are you in the same place so we were long distance for um about six months and then like I said I moved down and then what kind of advice like how did you uh what kind of advice would you give for like for instance like my situation I can't move every such every relationship is going to be a long distance one the nearest people are three hours away I do so much for my pastor my dad so I can't what is the way to approach someone like hey it's just a friend not a relationship what is the way to uh convey that for me oh well you're just with words I guess of course yeah I just I mean you just explain your situation and I mean you're both adults hopefully you both you can talk through it and uh and you know just understand where each other's coming from and if it's not the right time or the right person or whatever then it's not the right time in the right person that's what it is for me I mean I didn't plan on moving um and you know we we were long I mean I didn't tell her I was gonna move I mean that we didn't know that going into it I just told her I was like hey you know I really like you and I'm interested in you but that being said if it's long distance you got to put in the work and you got to put in the miles that I wholeheartedly am of the opinion that if I didn't I mean you know she was um I would at the time we started doing uh 18 17 18. and uh almost 18. and uh I mean I lived in Toledo and and you know that's eight and a half hours from here and I drove down every other weekend until I moved and that's but I mean hey I I if she's worth it you know so you gotta you gotta put in the work you're putting the miles and if you're not willing to sacrifice a little bit then you should think seriously about whether or not they're the right one yeah all right all right here's the question go ahead go ahead question if it's like nothing too personal I don't really know but it's just was like any like my rough Mama try and I kind of hard most in a relationship or was it kind of almost like Smooth Sailing the whole way like until we got married so you're asking about yeah yeah no of course everyone's got up you gotta learn how to communicate with another person and it's like yeah yeah but most most of the strain on our relationship was just because we're apart and like you know we would get we would be in moments where we would you know maybe be we were both in school too yeah I was you know in full-time engineering school and she's full-time nursing school and you know I was also working part-time at the time and trying to come down here all the time and so yeah I mean you get tired you get wore out you get upset there there are moments where you you know maybe say something you you didn't mean to say or it come it comes across the wrong way because you're on the phone or on FaceTime or whatever yeah but really our biggest problem is we just I mean you know we were in love and we wanted to be together as much as we could and we couldn't and then that the situation was frustrating and then for me that's when I started like trying to figure out a way to get closer and you know the Lord just opened all the right doors for us so but yeah I mean if you got ups and downs that's part of life yeah doing something wrong if you don't well they always say communication is key as the saying but it's really true because if you don't know how to communicate with each other you're going to have a really hard time understanding each other and I mean you just gotta find a way to communicate everything is kind of hard to read too so like we always if we could we would try to talk on the phone like every night while we were long distance at least um and we were FaceTime a lot too so you know like everyone communicates different and part of being um you know the right fit is that you communicate well with each other um and you know so like they're um plenty of I was thinking back on my younger days there are plenty of uh you know young ladies I was interested in that I did not communicate well with and that was because we just our personalities weren't met you know they didn't mesh and it they weren't the one you know looking back I was like you know a little frustrated at times but you know the Lord was guiding me to the right place so that that was uh you know in the end the way it was supposed to be all right so well yeah thanks for all that man yeah keep going we got we got a one-year-old and we gotta we got church in the morning so I
